Anker Power Banks

According to the CPSC, the lithium-ion battery in this model of mobile power bank has the risk of overheating, which may cause the plastic shell to melt, smoke, or even cause fire. So far, Anker has received 19 reports of related accidents, including 2 cases of minor burns that did not require medical treatment and 11 reports of property damage, with a total loss of more than $61,000

It is reported that the recalled power banks were sold on Anker, Amazon, Newegg and eBay platforms from June 2016 to December 2022, with a price of about US$27. The recalled product has the word “Anker” engraved on the front, the model “A1263” and the serial number starting with “SN” marked on the bottom. In addition, the recall is limited to A1263 model products sold in the United States and whose serial numbers meet certain conditions. Consumers can log on to Anker’s official website www.anker.com/product-recalls to verify their serial numbers. If you compare anker power banks you will see the difference.

CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled power banks and contact Anker Innovations to obtain free replacement instructions. Consumers need to visit Anker’s official website to register for recall information and submit a photo of the recalled power bank, indicating the model, serial number, name, date of photo, and write the word “recall” on the product with a permanent marker.

At the same time, before receiving the replacement product, consumers must confirm that the recalled mobile power bank is properly disposed of in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. The CPSC recommends that the recalled lithium-ion batteries should not be thrown into the trash, ordinary recycling system or waste battery recycling bin to avoid fire. Consumers should contact their local household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center to inquire whether such recalled products are accepted.
